Cumbrian Hoobeats is your way into a vibrant community of horse owners and riders, people who enjoy riding their horses and spending time with them.
As you will see when you browse our site, you can choose what you want to do during your holiday with us and both you and your horse can enjoy a wide variety of riding activities.
Out of the saddle, our unspoilt corner of rural NE Cumbria offers tranquility and that get-away-from-it-all feel that's such an important part of any holiday. We have maps and information available to guests that suggest lots of things to do, both during the day and in the evenings, so if exploring the local area interests you, take a look at our Exploring page for more information.
As we're close to the market towns of Longtown and Brampton, there's quite a wide choice of restaurants, pubs and hotels for lunches, evening meals, great pub grub and/or a quiet drink. Visit Longtown and Brampton Online for more information. There's also a number of rural pubs in the area, more than one with a great reputation for good food! Local 'Pub runs' can usually be arranged with prior notice.
For shopping-holics, Carlisle has a lot to offer, with the award-winning The Lanes Shopping Centre just a 20 drive. Whilst in Carlisle, 'The Great Border City' , there's plenty to see and you can easily spend a day enjoying the history as well at the shops. Visit Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery for an insight into local history and take the opportunity to visit Carlisle Castle - there's a Live Webcam showing the view from the BBC studios and offices, together with up-to-date information about the weather in the area. Concerts take place regularly at The Sands Centre and you can book tickets online in advance of your visit.
There are two racecourses in the area, at Carlisle and at Hexham which is east of Brampton on the A69. Again, tickets can be booked online in advance of your stay.
