Howard House is an historic 17th century Cumbrian farmhouse of traditional construction offering bed & breakfast accommodation refurbished to 4-star standard* for up to four family members or friends in a peaceful, 'unspoilt', yet very easy to reach part of North East Cumbria. It is close to Hadrian's Wall, directly on the route of the Reivers Cycle Trail and within easy driving distance of the historic city of Carlisle and The Lake District. (*awaiting inspection)

'The Hayloft Suite' B&B accommodation is very quiet and has a private access from the farmyard, where there is ample parking. There is a small entrance hall, ground floor twin bedroom and open stairs leading up to the first floor private lounge with absolutely fabulous views over the surrounding countryside, across to the Solway Firth and sunsets that really are out of this world! The centrally heated double-glazed, very comfortably furnished accommodation retains many original features and is adaptable for a total of four family members or friends if required using a quality double sofa-bed on the first floor. Breakfast is served in the large farmhouse kitchen accessed from the entrance hallway, or in the private lounge. The breakfast menu offers a variety of 'healthy eating' choices using fresh local produce, or a traditional Cumbrian farmhouse cooked breakfast if preferred.

Local pubs and restaurants offer a variety of opportunities to try locally produced food in the evenings and we can usually arrange a 'pub run' if requested. Click onto The People Scene for more information about the local towns and villages.

If you need to keep in touch, we have a fully equipped and staffed office, with telephone, fax, and broadband internet and we can offer a secretarial service if required. Please just ask if we can be of any help.

There are also drying facilities for wet clothes or footwear and secure storage available for bicycles and tack.

This is a totally non-smoking establishment, so if you wish to smoke, please do so away from the house and farmyard. Dogs are not permitted inside the house.
